Breastfeeding Support

breastfeeding

For families requiring support and help with breastfeeding in Toronto, there are a number of organizations and professionals available to help. Careganic was created as an online platform to help connect parents/caregivers to local service providers.

Careganic provides a list of certified lactation consultants who are professional breastfeeding specialists trained to teach mothers how to feed their babies. They help women experiencing breastfeeding problems, such as latching difficulties, painful nursing, and low milk production.

An experienced Lactation Specialist will be able to assess and recommend a treatment plan to deal with these painful conditions safely without disrupting your breastfeeding routine. Some lactation consultants provide home visits while others can only see you in their offices. Others provide services during the evening, on weekends, and on holidays. Many lactation consultants are also self-employed or in private practice. Fully trained lactation consultants have the IBCLC designation (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) whose license is governed by the International Lactation Consultant Association.
